herbal supplements Tomato juice is one of our favorite beverages and coupled with herbal supplements, we feel like we are getting really good nutrition from the two of them. As herbal supplements, basil is good for a variety of conditions, especially as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. It's great for people who suffer from arthritis, too. We love the taste of basil, and pesto is one of our favorites. It grows like a weed in our backyard in the summer, but in the winter we take basil herbal supplements to make sure we get the health benefits of basil every day.

We use basil essential oil to get all the health benefits of this herb. I put it in tomato juice, add it to our salad dressings, and even put a drop or two into my green tea in the morning. Food grade essential oils are great as herbal supplements, but when I want the unique flavor of basil in dishes that have lots of tomato in them, I reach for my dried basil and add it at the end of cooking to spice up the dish. By adding it at the end, I preserve the healing properties of this herb, as well as all the other herbs like rosemary and oregano that we enjoy.
