build muscle


It may not seem like yoga or pilates will build muscle but let me beg to differ! The beginning yoga or pilates student will notice immediately that they are using muscles they haven't used for some time.

I teach these disciplines and always show modifications to the moves for the newcomer and also for the expert. Anyone at any fitness level can and should attend a yoga or pilates workout. As the moves and positions are perfected the body becomes lean. I have been able to build muscle and lose inches with this practice. 

Not only does yoga and pilates build muscle but they also do wonders for your flexibility, balance and spirit of mind. After an invigorating workout I like to end each class with a simple meditation. I dim the lights and have all my students sit comfortably, close their eyes and rest their hands palm up on their thighs. We do breathing exercises and listen to very peaceful, calming music. It is only a short five minute meditation but it is so cleansing and relaxing.

My students comment on how the workout has helped them to build muscle. They also say a lot about the meditation part of class being their favorite and a much needed part of their day. That makes me feel good inside!
