A few days ago a friend emailed to ask if she could call me to discuss weight loss supplements and the battle of the bulge. Since I have struggled myself to lose weight, and am still working towards my goal weight, I know the importance of having someone who understands the struggle, and who can offer advice or encouragement.  I told her to give me a call whenever she wanted, that I’d be home most of the weekend.  She was grateful, and I wasn’t sure if she’d actually call, because people know that I’m pretty no-nonsense when it comes to losing weight and using weight loss supplements.  Let’s face it, not everyone wants to hear the no-nonsense approach.

 

Yesterday afternoon she called and after chatting for a while, she brought up weight loss supplements and asked what I thought about her using them to get the weight off.  Quite truthfully, I told her that I felt that it depended on the reasons that she would be taking the weight loss supplements as to whether she should take them or not.  I followed the statement with the fact that if she felt like taking weight loss supplements were her magic pill to lose weight, then she was doing it for the wrong reasons. I also said that if she wanted to use weight loss supplements in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise in order to help control hunger that I thought it could work for her.  

 

She thanked me and said she wanted to talk to me because she knew I’d be honest with her, but also that she respected my opinion.  She said she wanted to use weight loss supplements as a tool to help her attain her goal, and didn’t see it as a cure all.  It sounds to me like she has the right attitude, and I look forward to hearing about her progress, and will be cheering her on as she goes.
