build muscle

Anyone can benefit from weight bearing exercise. Weight training is not just something those muscle bound jocks who want to enter bodybuilding shows do. No it is for anyone of any age. I teach a group of older adults in a muscle conditioning class. In this group fitness setting we use small balls, hand weights and rubber tubes. With repetitive movements this elderly population is being able to build muscle, work on their range of motion and agility for better every day living.

It is important to rest the muscle groups in between work outs. With my group of seniors we build muscle by working the arms one day, the legs another and the abs yet another day. In each class we do about a half hour of cardio work before the muscle conditioning segment. My group of older athletes look forward to the repetition. They do not like things to change a lot so my classes remain pretty much the same except the order in which we do things. I am so proud of my students as they build muscle with weight training exercises.
